Indonesia’s Sovereign Credit Rating at Investment Grade
Jakarta | 20th July 2017
Indonesia’s sovereign credit rating remains at investment grade level. In its press release, Fitch affirmed Sovereign Credit Rating of the Republic of Indonesia at BBB- /positive outlook. The key factors that support the decision consist of a low government debt burden, favorable growth outlook, and limited sovereign exposure to banking sector risks.
” Indonesia’s rating at BBB-/positive outlook is a supporting factor for Indonesia to maintain investors’ and stakeholders’ confidence “
Two main concerns remained, namely external finances and structural factors that need to be improved including governance standards and business environment.
Governor of Bank Indonesia, Agus D.W. Martowardojo stated that “Fitch affirmation to Indonesia’s rating at BBB-/positive outlook is a supporting factor for Indonesia to maintain investors’ and stakeholders’ confidence. This is a good momentum for Indonesia to persistently maintain a balanced economic growth amidst the ongoing global uncertainty. In this regard, Bank Indonesia will continue to support and contribute to the national reforms agenda to attain sustainable and inclusive economic growth”.
