Vietjet Shares Valued at US$1.2 Billion to be Officially Listed

Today, Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) announced and presented its decision on Vietjet’s official listing, and welcomed Vietjet’s VJC shares into trading. Vietjet is the first airline in Vietnam to be listed on HOSE.

Vietjet’s chartered capital of 3,000 billion Vietnam Dongs, priced at VND90,000 each share today, puts the capitalization of the airline at 27,000 billion Vietnam Dongs, equivalent to US$1.2 billion, accounting for 1.5% of HOSE capitalization (1.63 million trillion Vietnam Dong as at 15th February 2017).
The airline will join in the ranks of VN 30 Vietnam’s biggest publicly-traded companies by market capitalization.
VJC will contribute positively to raise market capitalization and bring potential opportunities for local and foreign investors when listed on HOSE.
Vietjet is the first Vietnamese company to have completed an IPO that meets international standards and practice (Reg S). BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan are the IPO’s foreign joint global consultants. 24 international investors subscribed to Vietjet’s offerring, including Singapore sovereign fund GIC, Wellington, Morgan Stanley, Dragon Capital, VinaCapital…
According to 2016 statistics, Vietnam aviation transportation market grew by 29% between 2012 and 2016, and the rate of customers using airplane as their means of transportation increased from 0.5% in 2012 to 0.8% in 2016.
Vietjet, the first private airline in Vietnam, one of the few most efficient carriers in the world, started to generate profits from the 2nd year of operations since its inception.
Vietjet’s revenue in 2016 was 27,532 billion Vietnam Dongs with a net profit of 2,394 billion Vietnam Dongs, with an earnings per share of 8,762 Vietnam Dongs.
