” Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Host World Economic Forum on ASEAN on 10th to 12th May 2017 “

Now in its 26th year, the meeting will focus on how the region can harness the potential of a young demographic, as well as the transformative impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, to foster inclusive economic growth.

More than 700 leaders from business, government, civil society and media are expected to participate in the meeting. The World Economic Forum on ASEAN will provide an ideal platform to facilitate greater collaboration between senior decision-makers from various sectors to work on shaping the brightest future for the region’s young population.

“As the ASEAN bloc celebrates its 50th anniversary, the region faces a new era of rapid, non-linear change. The international order and its governing institutions face profound challenges. Established models for economic development are being questioned. The technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are bringing disruption at accelerating speed. The World Economic Forum on ASEAN is geared entirely towards helping the 10 nations of ASEAN to understand these pressing issues, to generate new thinking on how to navigate them and to catalyse initiatives to make a meaningful difference,” said Justin Wood, Head of Asia Pacific and Member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum.

The meeting Co-Chairs include: Maria Carmela Alvarez, Mayor of San Vicente, Philippines; Jamaludin Ibrahim, Managing Director, President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Axiata Group, Malaysia; Wolfgang Jamann, Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer, CARE International, Switzerland; Jin Liqun, President, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Beijing; Anthony Tan, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Grab, Malaysia; and Tevin Vongvanich, Chief Executive Officer, PTT, Thailand.
